# General Information

It is important to note that using AutoGPT is completely **FREE**, but to unlock its full functionality, you will need to load credits to your OpenAI account. This is because AutoGPT uses the official OpenAI API, which is a paid service.

Upon creating your account for the first time, you will receive an $18 credit that can be used for the [first three months](https://openai.com/api/pricing/).

The cost is calculated based on the number of tokens used for each request, and will be charged accordingly and invoiced later.
